Stereo-consistent screen-space ambient occlusion

Screen-space ambient occlusion (SSAO) shows high efficiency and is widely used in real-time 3D applications. However, using SSAO algorithms stereo rendering can lead to inconsistencies due the differences screen-space information captured by left right eye. This will affect perception of scene may be a source viewer discomfort. In this paper, we show that raw obscurance estimation part subsequent filtering are both sources inconsistencies. We developed method involving views conjunction, leading stereo-aware bilateral filter. The results our reduces level comparable geometry-based AO solutions, while maintaining performance benefits approach.
